A nakshatram is the lunar mansion — the segment of the zodiac in which the Moon currently resides. There are 27 of them, each spanning roughly 13°20′ of the ecliptic.

The Moon traverses roughly one nakshatra per day (its speed varies). The sequence runs:

On the daily page, the "day's nakshatram" is the one the Moon occupies at sunrise; the end-time is also shown, since the nakshatra may change during the day.
